- Our client for this project is an Australian icon within the food manufacturing industry.
- This proud Australian company has operations in New South Wales, Victoria and New Zealand.
Project Overview
To build a Centre of Excellence (COE) with the latest fully automated technologies procured from Europe. This included a full manufacturing operation from raw ingredients, to forming, to end of line high speed packing and palletising.
With Covid-19 devastating Milan, Italy around Feb 2020. And with the pandemic becoming global; international flights were suspended into Australia. As a consequence, the Italian manufacturer was unable to send a full complement of engineers to Vitoria to oversee the installation. A project of 15weeks for the build, test, and commissioning.
Solution
Jarlam proposed to support and lead the project on behalf of the manufacturing site, both supporting and leading the installation, test, and commissioning of the new plant. During the installation some 25 shipping containers arrived to site, they were unpacked, machine skated into position, and all alignments and joining of the plant to very fine tolerances. All services, and mechanical drives connected, with dry running completed on time as per the overall project delivery schedule.
Benefits / Outcome
Highly skilled resources made available, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Project delivered as per the plan. All services installed and connected to the highest of standards. Without the Jarlam team stepping in to support; the project would either not have started, or the site would have had to wait for international flights to re-start to allow the full complement of the European team to attend site to complete.
During the build, the site was audited for BRC food standards/ safety, as part of its annual audit. The site earned the highest rating of BRC AA.
